Insurgent Movie Trailer Talk

If you haven't yet heard, The freakin' Insurgent trailer was released yesterday!!!
Now for those who don't know, I am a major fan of the Divergent series by Veronica Roth so its pretty damn exciting to see the movie come to life!
If you have not read this trilogy yet, I highly suggest to go read it NOW. You will not be disappointed.
View the trailer for yourself, here it is...

Doesn't this this trailer make you super pumped for the movie release next year? Because I sure am!
If you have read Insurgent- Is it just me or were you super confused too?
I found that heaps of the stuff in the trailer were not in the book, but I could be wrong.
I am sure that I don't remember Jeanine trying to make Tris fight another version of herself, please tell me in the comments if I am wrong.

I have actually heard many mixed reviews about this trailer. Apparently some people are shocked about the difference between the movie and the book.
In my opinion, I loved the trailer. I found it super intense and breathtaking. But the trailer never tells the full story, I cannot yet tell if i'm going to like this movie or not.

Can I please just talk about Tris's hair in this movie. I don't know if i'm the only one, but this version of Tris keeps reminding me of Hazel from The Fault in Our Stars. Don't get me wrong, I think Shailene Woodley looks absolutely gorgeous but the short hair always makes me think of Hazel.

Overall this trailer makes me extremely excited for this movie, being released next year on March 20th.

Again, If you have not read the Divergent trilogy yet, you should definitely put this series at the top of your TBR list! :P

Happy reading everyone and Merry Christmas,
Chelsea xoxo

Mockingjay Pt 1 Movie Discussion

Yep, You know what time it is. Time to talk about MOCKINGJAY PART 1!
If you have not read the Hunger Games trilogy- What are you still doing here, go read it right NOW.
Well anyway, Mockingjay (the 3rd and final book) has been split into 2 movies and Mockingjay pt 1 has just been released in cinemas, and if you have not seen it yet, I recommend you to go see it ASAP.
If you have not seen the trailer yet- Here it is..

Now if you have not read the books or watched the movie, this review may be a little spoilery - so just beware.

First off, Mockingjay was my least favorite book in the trilogy. I found it very hard to get into and it was not nearly as good as the Hunger Games and Catching fire.
But I regret to say that Mockingjay the movie was better than the book.. I know it sounds really bad, but it's the harsh truth.

Ok, now onto the movie. The acting is spot on! Jennifer Lawrence did such an amazing job playing Katniss and I wouldn't want to choose any other actor!
We also get to see much more of Gale in this film, unlike in the Hunger Games and Catching fire; where he was hardly in the films at all! Liam Hemsworth proves to be perfect for the role of Gale and I am very happy with his casting! He's also a bit of eye candy ;)
Overall I am extremely happy with the acting and castings.

This movie has to be the funniest of them all, I mean every movie has to have a bit of humor put in with the seriousness, and the humor in this was spot on! There are many laughs in this movie to even out the intense moments!

This movie definitely had moments where I was at the edge of my seat, there were many very intense scenes that had my heart racing. Like when Gale and the others went to rescue Peeta, Johanna and Annie- oooh that was soooo intense, even though I have already read the book and I knew what was going to happen!

Oooh and we can't forget Peeta. Peeta was hardly in this film at all and it makes me really sad. Peeta is one of my all time favorite characters in the Hunger Games trilogy and it was hard to not see him much at all.

Woah I am talking way way to much right now. This movie is sooooo AMAZING and I would rate it a 5/5 stars. You guys should definitely go see it if you haven't already!
And also if you have not yet read the books- go to the right away PLEASE :P

Happy reading everyone!
Chelsea xoxo

The Infinite Sea - Book Review

Author: Rick Yancey
Edition: Putnam Juvenile Hardback
Released: September 16 2014
Series: The 5th Wave #2
Pages: 300 approx.
Links: Goodreads | Author's website | Buy the book!

How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity.

Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone. As the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront the Others’ ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.

Cassie and her friends haven’t seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate.

Exams are finally over Wahooo!!! Before I couldn't post as often as I wanted to, but I'm back so yay :P

First off, This book is ONLY 300 PAGES. I don't know why this came as a shock to me, I was so sad because I want more... The 5th Wave was 457 pages so there's quite a difference between them.

There's not much I can say about this book without spoiling Y'all, so this review will be very brief and small.

So if you read my 5th Wave review, you would know that I LOVE that book. I gave The 5th Wave a 5/5 stars.
For the Infinite sea, I couldn't get into it as much, It took me a good week and a half to read this book - unlike the 5th Wave which I read in 3 days.

In my opinion; the action only starts after the 1st half of the book. I found the start quite boring and dull, not much happened.
So apart from the crappy starting, the end was super intense and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series! :P
I gave this book a 4/5 stars.

Sorry for the really short review but I definitely recommend this series to any Young Adult fans!!

Happy Reading Everyone!

Would You Rather - Book Tag

Would You Rather Book Tag

Today I was scrolling through my YouTube subscriptions and came across the Would You Rather BookTube Edition tag. I've never done a tag so I thought I'd give this one a shot! :P
I'll tag the original creator right here

Would you rather...

1. Read only trilogies or stand-alones?
This ones a definitely an easy one for me!
I would have to go with reading only trilogies,
I feel that when you read trilogies you get to know the characters much more.

Also some of my favourite books are part of a trilogy (The Divergent series and the Infernal Devices trilogy) :3

2. Read only female or Male authors?

This question is actually really hard for me to answer. The genders of           authors has never bothered me before so this is difficult.

I would have to choose to read only female authors. This is only because       most of my favourite books are by female authors. But this DOES NOT mean   that I do not like male author, because I do! ;)

3. Shop at Barnes & Noble or Amazon?

Well, In New Zealand, we don't have Barnes & Noble. And also, I do not       shop on Amazon because shipping costs WAY too much money!
Can I choose the book depository? Does that count?
Anyway... If you do not shop at the Book Depository, you should! The books   are cheap and shipping's free! Click here to view their website! :P

4. All books become movies or t.v shows?

I have to choose movies!
It's a no brainer answer for me.
My favourite movie at the movie is Divergent so yea.
MOVIES FOR THE WIN!

5. Read 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?

Definitely 5 books per week. How could you only read 5 pages per day? That impossible!

6.  Be a professional reviewer or author?

I don't know... Probably a reviewer, only because I can't write for shite!
How cool would it be to be a professional reviewer? Get to read books for a living, hell yea!

7. Only read your top 20 favourite books over and over or always read new    ones that you haven't read before?

I would choose to always read books that I haven't read before! I LOVE finding out about new books and experiencing new characters and a new   world! Besides... You would still have the memory of your favourite books right?

8. Be a librarian or book seller?

Hmmm... Probably a book seller! Imagine all the sweet deals on books you   would get! Also you could probably get some books before they are released   in stores! :P

9. Only read your favourite genre, or every genre except your favourite?

Every other genre except my favourite. Sometimes I get bored of my           favourite genre and I like to mix things up a little. So yea, every other           genre.

10. Only read pysical books or eBooks?

PHYSICAL BOOKS!!! Always Physical books. I like my bookshelves looking fabulous! ;)

So that's the end of the Would You Rather Book Tag!
Hopefully you now know a little bit more about me! :P

Happy Reading Everyone!
Chelsea xoxo

Lola and the Boy Next Door - Book Review

Author: Stephanie Perkins
Edition: Speak Paperback
Released: September 28 2011
Series: Anna and the French Kiss #2
Pages: 338 approx.

Lola Nolan is a budding costume designer, and for her, the more outrageous, sparkly, and fun the outfit, the better. And everything is pretty perfect in her life (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighbourhood. When Cricket, a gifted inventor, steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

I recently just read Anna and the French Kiss and I LOVED it! Literally right after I finished Anna, I was racing over to my bookshelf to pick up Lola!

To be honest, I had quite a few problems with this book. These problems are really hard to explain and probably make no sense at all, but who cares! I'll just get onto the review :P

Here is a short list of the negatives I found while reading this book:

- I couldn't get hooked on this book, It took me a while to get into it.
- I did not feel the romance as much as I did with Anna, it didn't make me get that cute feeling inside when something adorable happened.
- I did not feel attached to some of the main characters.

That's enough of the negative things, Lets get onto the good stuff :P

One of the things I loved about this book is that everything is so real and honest! I feel as though I can relate to the story and I can feel a sense of similarity between Lola and I, even though we are nothing alike ( Does that make sense?)

Another thing that I really LOVED about this book is that Lola's parents are gay. We don't see enough of gay couples in contemporary books and I think that there should be more! Lola wouldn't be the same amazing person if it weren't for her dads!

I love how the Stephanie Perkins intertwined characters from Anna and the French Kiss into this novel, I could not get enough of Anna and Etienne in the first book. It just brings the whole story together and its definitely a pure stroke of genius by Stephanie Perkins :P

I rated this book a 4/5 stars!

If you have not yet read Anna and the French Kiss or Lola and the Boy Next Door, I definitely recommend it! These books are super adorable and are such a light fun read.
Thank you Stephanie Perkins for creating a master piece! :)

Happy Reading Everyone!

Anna and the French Kiss - Book Review

Author: Stephanie Perkins
Edition: Speak Paperback
Released: January 1st 2010
Series: Anna and the French Kiss #1
Pages: 372 approx.
Links: Goodreads | Author's Website | Buy the book

Can Anna find love in the City of Light?
Anna is happy in Atlanta. She has a loyal best friend and a crush on her co-worker at the movie theater, who is just starting to return her affection. So she's less than thrilled when her father decides to send her to a boarding school in Paris for her senior year. But despite not speaking a word of French, Anna meets some cool new people, including the handsome Étienne St. Clair, who quickly becomes her best friend. Unfortunately, he's taken —and Anna might be, too. Will a year of romantic near misses end with the French kiss she's waiting for?

Hey book lovers,
Today I am going to be doing a quick review on this amazing book! :P

First off, To be honest I was putting this book off for a while.. Me and contemporary's do not get on very well. Just about every contemporary book I have read were not my favourites.

So anyway, I saw this book in the Warehouse for only $10!!! Which is pretty cheap for New Zealand books! So I picked it up along with the sequel Lola and the Boy Next Door, and I read it.

This book is so ADORABLE. All the characters are so amazing! ( Well except for some of them ) :P I loved Anna and I loved St. Clair. The romance in this book was on point and it's so beautiful!
I had many fangirly moments throughout this book. This whole story makes me want to go to Paris! Even more than I already did want to go!

If you are looking for a cute romance story, this is definitely the book for you!
Stephanie Perkins has done such an amazing job on this!

I rated this book a 5/5 stars!

Happy reading Everyone!

The Mortal Instruments is becoming a TV show?

If you have not yet heard... THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS IS BECOMING A TV SHOW!!!!

A few days ago it was announced via the Hollywood reporter that The Mortal Instruments series is returning as a TV show!

Before I get into detail I just want to
clarify that I am not a expert on this,
I am just another fan wanting to know more details! :P

So if you did not know already, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, is the first in a 6 books series written by Cassandra Clare. These books are very popular among the Young Adult world, and in my opinion, I LOVED these books!

The Mortal Instruments was originally planned to be turned into feature film franchise, but after the first movie was made, they decided scrap the idea as it did not make enough money. Only $31 million dollars was made, which may seem like a lot to us, but throughout the film industry it's not much at all!

Constantin Film, is the production company that controls the rights to Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series, they originally were the ones who created the first film, but they have now relaunching Mortal Instruments as a high-end drama series!

I have heard many different opinions on this idea. I personally am very excited but also nervous. This series as a TV show could be amazing but it has to be done right. In my opinion I think it could be either amazing or horrible. I am hoping that they will stick to the books and not change it up too much. It would be awful if they made a complete mess of Cassandra's amazing books!

I am sure that they are scrapping the movie altogether, starting fresh. Hopefully they can make a huge improvement to the series on screen! :P

As for the actors in the movie, Lily Collins, Jamie Cambell Bower, Robert Sheehan ect. I love all these actors. I think they did an amazing job with their characters but honestly, I don't think that they will be part of the TV show.
I think they will all be missed, and it will be strange without them but I think it's for the best! For this TV show starting fresh, having the same actors will just bring back old memories and might ruin it for us. Don't get me wrong, I love all these actors and I will definitely miss them, but I am pretty sure that they will not be part of the Mortal Instruments anymore.

This project is said to be currently in development and Constantin are planning to begin production next year.

If you would like to see the original article, click here

I am super excited for this TV show to start and I can't wait to watch it!
If you have not yet read The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, I definitely recommend it!
Happy Reading Everyone

The 5th Wave - Book Review

Author: Rick Yancey
Edition: Putnam Juvenile Hardback
Released: January 1st 2013
Series: The 5th Wave #1
Pages: 480 approx.
Links: Goodreads  | Author's Website | Buy the book!

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.
Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker.
Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

I heard a lot of this book throughout booktube many months ago, I had been putting of buying it because I really wanted the hardback version and it was a bit pricey. Last month I heard that actually heard that it was about aliens, and that was the final straw. I love aliens so much, I think I could say that Sci-Fi is my favorite genre. :p

This book has major hype throughout the Young Adult world and I have heard nothing but good things about it. Apparently they are making the book into a movie too? Starring Chloe Grace Mortez, which is SUPER exciting!

I was super pumped to start reading this book and  I had very high expectations.
This book is set out in parts, so the parts are using the different characters perspectives, each person's perspective is seperated with two black starry pages with a title. This gives us the chance to feel what are other people are feeling, and not just be stuck with the same person thoughts throughout the book. I love the way Rick Yancey has set this book out, it's easy to understand and it also keeps everything interesting and fun!

I love all the main characters! Cassie is so awesome and badass, she always speaks with a bit of sarcasm which I find so funny and amusing. Evan Walker is the coolest ever... He's so adorable and romantic and ahhhh, he also very mysterious which I find so interesting and it keeps me reading to find out more.
Then theres Ben Parish, Cassie's highschool crush. Ben's perspective is shown a little later in the books and he is so kind and caring! He helps look after Sammy (Cassies little brother) and he is so protective over Sammy and he is just makes the book a whole lot better!

Ok I think I am talking to much now... I just love this book so much. The story is so unique and so AWESOME! I read this book in 2 days, that's how amazing it was. I definitaly recommend this book to EVERYONE! Its super amazing and you will not regret reading it.
I am super excited to read The Infinite sea, which is the sequel to this book! :p

I rate this book a 5/5 stars

Happy Reading!

Book Series Recommendations

So today I thought I would post something a little different...
My Top 3 Series Recommendations!

I will be putting down the summary of the first book in each series, and will be writing a quick reason why you should read them!
All these books will be Young Adult.

1 The Mortal Intruments series by Cassandra Clare

Goodreads summary:

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

This series is one of the best I have read ever. This series consists of 6 books and all of them are amazing! Throughout each book I got attached to the characters, and that to me is an important quality in a novel.
This series is very popular throughout the Young Adult genre and should find that most people love this series.
I Definitaly recommend this series, it's set in a great world, you won't regret it!

2  Divergent by Veronica Roth

Goodreads summary:

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, Tris also learns that her secret might help her save the ones she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

This series has massive hype, you probably have heard about this series before, if not read them. This series consists of 3 books, Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant.
This book is based in a dystopian world, which is one of my favorite things to read about.
If you are a beginner to Young Adult books I would definitley recommend this one to you, it will be a great start to your new love of books.
This series was the one that brought me back to reading! :p
Please read these books!!! They are amazing!

3  Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

 Goodreads summary:

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

This series is AMAZING! I cannot get enough of these books. Honestly you all should definitely read them! This series consists of 6 books and they are all such great reads!
Oh and by the way, don't let the title fool you, I know it's quite cheesy but the book makes up for it.
Also IGNORE the cover! I honestly dislike the covers but please don't judge them for that, the story is good and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!
Please read these books they are so good and they will not disappoint.

I hope these book recommendations helped and I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did! :p

Happy reading everyone!
